In the past, Stéphane Galland has worked with such greats as Ibrahim Maalouf, Zap Mama and Ozark Henry. He has also made a point of working with the best musicians from different cultures, from India to the Balkans, via Africa. But this drummer is probably best known as a founding member of Aka Moon, one of the most legendary jazz bands in the history of Belgian music. Stéphane Galland celebrates his fiftieth birthday in 2019, but the sound he creates remains ageless. Over the years, he has developed a unique rhythmic approach by linking the different musical traditions in which he has worked.
He draws his inspirations from a range of registers as colourful as they are delightful, and he'll be giving us a triple sample of them over the course of this Brussels touring evening. Because La Night is an evening tailor-made for the festival, with 3 sets reflecting the DNA of each stage.
