With "Cleo", singer Lea Maria Fries has released her first album under her own name, composing most of the music and lyrics for her new album. Produced by Julien Herné, this deep, delicate work is full of stories, recounting an artist's intimate quest for her future with confidence, maturity and sensitivity.
Their alternative music is rooted in black music and jazz, with one foot in experimental rock. From one style and language to another, the sonic textures and progressive mutations of the 13 tracks harmonise divinely. While Lea's voice and charisma may evoke the explorations of Mélanie De Biasio and the bewitching presence and timbre of Beth Gibbons, her singularity is self-evident. Like her elders, the stage is her kingdom; she inhabits it and dominates it with mad elegance, in an attitude that she claims is both classy and trashy.
