For one hour, the brilliant inventor Adolphe Sax returns to Belgium and becomes 'Mr Saxo'! A colourful character, he captivates his audience with the classical, jazz, amusing and curious melodies in his repertoire. Accompanied by his pianist friend 'Monsieur Berlioz', he presents the saxophone, an expressive instrument.
This show develops a comical 19th century atmosphere and moves between storytelling, comedy and music! Through dialogue and musical choices, it tackles a variety of themes: inventors, the 19th century, musical styles, jazz and its symbolism... A trip off the beaten track, this duo is an ode to the saxophone, from Ravel's 'Bolero' to the music of Sydney Bechet. It revisits Bechet's greatest hits and explores the life of a hard-nosed but very likeable innovator... 'Monsieur Saxo'!
