Simon Comté is one of the most dazzling rising stars on the new Belgian jazz scene.
The quartet's repertoire consists mainly of compositions by Simon Comté, who is always on the lookout for the most sincere energy and the best way to tell a story through notes. His music gives pride of place to the dialogue and synergy between the musicians, and is influenced by his mentors: Coltrane, Monk, Brad Mehldau and Kenny Wheeler...
A 20-year-old Belgian tenor saxophonist, Simon Comté began playing at the age of 7 and was admitted to the Brussels Royal Conservatory at 14! A winner of the Leuven Jazz Contest and a finalist in the Dinant Jazz Contest, he was awarded the BAEF 2023 music grant and already has a number of international concerts to his name, notably in New York, where he lives and studies.
The Grammy-winning WDR Big-Band Cologne has invited him to perform with them as a soloist in February 2025.
With this new project, Simon plays his own music with some of his favourite musicians. Energy and dialogue are the key points of this quartet.
