With a background in theatre and jazz, and a passion for R&B, soul and gospel, Adja has developed a warm, rich and organic musical style. She draws inspiration from D'Angelo, Erykah Badu, Hiatus Kaiyote and Lauryn Hill. Her music has a delicate power, and creates a rich and complex atmosphere. In 2022, Adja was named winner of the Sound Track competition, and later that year, the newspaper De Morgen<\/em> has named her as one of six promising Belgian musicians for 2023. Her music is prized for its spiritual neo-soul, reminiscent of Erykah Badu, and its velvety, Lianne La Havas-style approach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the spring, she launched her first album, Golden Retrieve Her<\/em>which received 5-star reviews. She has worked with producer Adam Scrimshire. He's no stranger to the limelight, having been named by the Guardian as one of the top three most influential soul producers in the UK, alongside Swindle and Inflo. He has also collaborated with renowned Belgian producer, mixer and musician Koen Gisen. Both have helped her to develop her own production skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first single from the album, A Moment<\/em> (December 2024), deals humorously with the desire to relax for a while in a hectic world, while its second single, Sucking on My Empathies<\/em>The audience is in for an explosion of energy. With Golden Retrieve Her<\/em>Adja shows that not only does she have a powerful voice, but that she is also a force of nature who fuses her diverse talents in exciting live shows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
