The story of 3'Ain begins with Yamen leaving Syria in 2013 for Belgium, where he met Piet two years later. Otto joins them in the summer of 2019, marking the beginning of 3'Ain.
The band's name is based on the eighteenth letter of the Arabic alphabet, : a vowel whose pronunciation is considered difficult for Westerners. 3'Ain seemed an appropriate name for a trio playing contemporary jazz and world music with Eastern influences.
After their acclaimed debut EP in 2020, 3'Ain are back in spring 2023 with Sea of Stories, a full-length album that has charmed the Belgian and international press. The album takes us into the unique atmosphere of the port of Ostend, where the musicians draw their inspiration, as evidenced by their hypnotic single "Scrambled Ensor".
