Inner Travels
Ivan Paduart and Patrick Deltenre are undeniably among the cream of Belgian jazzmen. With a long history of collaboration and a prolific discography ('Hand In Hand' in 2018 and 'Ear We Are' in 2020), the pair are now joined by a bassist and a percussionist to form a kind of quartet exploring new musical horizons. Fresh and varied, it cuts a fine figure between boundless energy and delicate tenderness. A must-see!
"Patrick Deltenre on guitar and Ivan Paduart on piano are a duo who have known each other since 1989 and have been working together for several albums. This time around, they've decided to take a new approach by playing as a quartet, with Philippe Aerts on double bass and Steve Shehan on percussion, and even more, with singers Sinne Eeg and Raphaëlle Brochet and percussionists Paul Pasquier and Michel Seba lending a hand on certain tracks. Ten compositions by either of them, or by the duo, are as successful as ever, with catchy themes, lots of colour and poetry, lively, almost pop or even funk rhythms (No Fear, Petite parenthèse), intimacy (Resilience, Mauritius), and good old jazz (Pile ou face). And some terrific solos from Patrick and Ivan that send us soaring into the clouds. A great success. JC Vantroyen, le Soir
