During the River Jazz festival in March 2025, I'll be exhibiting around a hundred drawings of jazz concerts in three different venues in Brussels (Jazz Station, Marni and Le Senghor).
These drawings (period 2014-24), mostly small sketchbooks in A-3-A4 format, were made on the spot during concerts and festivals. They feature De Beren Gieren, BB King, Avishai Cohen, Joe Lovano, Bram De Looze, Stéphane Galland, Philippe Catherine,...etc.
I particularly like the rhythm and improvisation of jazz. My drawings are expressive, I sketch quickly and I like to exaggerate with very little equipment (Bic, pen and ink).
Observation is important, and during a concert I make several drawings, my pen following the rhythm of the jazz.
