Sal La Rocca is undoubtedly one of the country's finest double bassists and more. The man who has accompanied Steve Grossman and Lee Konitz, among others, has had a number of fantastic musicians at his side. The chap in the bandana knows how to surround himself: a dream rhythm section with Jeroen van Herzeele on sax and Lieven Venken on drums. On the Wurlitzer, Pascal Mohy brings a unique freshness and groove. The music is libertarian, between standards and compositions, with Coltrane's influence shining through. Madness, freedom, the cohesion is visible and the music is good. You can see it, hear it and feel it.
For River Jazz, Sal La Rocca invites trumpeter Stéphane Belmondo. It's an opportunity for the quartet to further enhance their music.
